| | | | | | | | | | Welcome we,
As a newcomer to the Well Nourished tribe, I wanted to share with you three simple strategies that will make a massive difference to your health and wellbeing. In a world with so much information about the best way to eat and maintain health, I find many people are so overwhelmed that they lose sight of the everyday things that make a significant difference to their day-to-day health.
One thing I've learned from consulting as a Naturopath, is it is often the really simple things that have the most profound impact on people's energy, mood, motivation and overall wellbeing. Focusing on these three health tips will bring better health results than any expensive 'super' food or fad-diet. | | | | | | | | | 1. Buy SLOW foods Now more than ever, there are so many dietary philosophies. But whatever your persuasion, first and foremost think in terms of SLOW food, that is Seasonal – Locally grown – Organic (if possible) – Whole (un-refined) foods. These are the foods that serve you and your family's health best.
Fruit and vegetables that are 'in season' are always the freshest and most nutritious foods. If sourced locally, this means that they haven't travelled far and you can be rest assured that the nutritional content is as good as it gets (and less chemical exposure too). If you're investing in fresh produce, make sure it is at its nutritional peak by shopping for seasonal, locally sourced food. More on the importance of SLOW foods, click here.
If you need help making your vegetables shine and taste as delicious as can be, my ebook 'Well Nourished Sides and Salads' is invaluable and it's just AU$9.95. As one happy customer wrote "a brilliant resource to help me to win over my veggie fussy kids. So many delicious and easy to make recipes to choose from." | | | | | | | | | | | 2. Eat breakfast A wholesome, nourishing breakfast of nutrient-dense foods will kick start your metabolism and stabilise your blood sugar levels. This provides sustained energy, clarity, focus and a stable mood throughout the day.
Research has proven that adults and children who eat an unrefined, nutritionally balanced breakfast make better food choices throughout the day and have more nutritious diets overall. Eating a nourishing breakfast also reduces snacking, prevents weight gain as well as improving concentration, focus, rates of learning and overall energy levels.
There is no superfood on the market that can improve your overall health the way eating a wholesome breakfast does. I have lots of great breakfast recipe inspiration on the website because there's nothing in a cereal box that's good enough for brekkie. I believe breakfast is SO important that my first ebook 'Rise and Shine - A Well Nourished Breakfast' was specifically developed to provide you with quick, easy to prepare, nutritionally balanced, delicious recipes to support the health of your whole family. | | | | | | | | | 3. Drink water We all know that water is essential for us to stay alive, but we often forget how important it is for us to stay mentally and physically well and thrive. Over 60% of our body weight is water, the role it plays in the proper functioning of every system of our body is critical. We simply cannot function efficiently without it.
I believe that the reason why many people look and feel older than they should, is because they are in a state of chronic dehydration. Remember if you feel thirsty, you are already dehydrated. I love my plant analogy - when a plant is not watered regularly, it becomes dry (wrinkled), then wilted (tired) and finally begins to die (becomes unwell). PRIORITISE your health and don't make change complicated - just begin! I wish you all the very best on your health journey and hope the delicious recipes and information I provide here at Well Nourished will inspire you to develop a healthy lifestyle.
Remember that change begins with YOU and positively impacts on your family, community and the planet!
Cheers, Georgia x | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |
