There's something about afternoon tea.... Most afternoons when I arrived home from school, my Mom would put the kettle on and make a pot of tea in her favourite Brown Betty tea pot. She would let me choose a teacup from her beautiful collection of vintage china cups and we would sit and talk about the day over a cup of tea and a cookie or sometimes even a piece of cake. I treasure the memories of those first 'afternoon teas' with my Mom. They gave me a real passion for the lovely traditional pause in the day afternoon tea brings. Later I learned more about afternoon tea and all it could entail, which fit in perfectly with the collection of vintage recipes Mom shared with me. I love making Grandma Ruby's delicious Orange and Raisin Scones, my Auntie Margaret's Spice Cake and Mom's Coconut Meringue Cookies to share with family and friends. And now I can share them with you and everyone else as well, not just through my website, but also through my Vintage Afternoon Tea Workshops. |
