[Lesson #3] Host at a moments notice

Hi again we --

Welcome to Day 3 of 5 Kitchen Tips from a Private Chef!

As a private chef, there were times I would go to cook for a family of 4... and then learn that 10 people were coming over to eat!.

At first I was like:

OMG WHAT? How on earth do I handle this?

After a few spur of the moment parties, I had it down to a science.

Be Ready to Feed a Large Group at a Moment's Notice

We all have been in that situation where you have company coming over and you have no clue what to make nor any time to make it.

With a little bit of prep, you'll never be caught off guard again.

Four Life Saving Tips:

  1. Keep a stocked pantry of the essentials
    • Pasta and or rice is the easiest way to fill the plate without additional effort. Boil off 1-2 lbs of pasta and you are on your way.
  2. Never serve meat, fish, or chicken whole.
    • Slice or flake your proteins so people just grab 1-2 pieces. Chicken Breast sliced into 6 really stretches things out.
  3. Sides and Salads are the name of the game.
    • Ransack the fridge and take out every fruit and vegetable. Make leafy green salads, fruit salads, pasta salads, antipasto salads, you name it.
  4. Keep cookie dough stocked in the freezer at all times.
    • I can't even tell you how many times having cookie dough saved the day. Bake off cookies, serve them warm or chill them and make ice cream sandwiches.
