Before I leave you to it, I would love to quickly introduce you to some of my favourite recipes on the blog. These are recipes that are near and dear to me as they've been passed down through the generations of my family.
This is my mum's recipe for Pease Pudding, which made a regular appearance on the family dinner table whilst I was growing up. Mum used to make it when she was boiling a ham, usually a ham shank as that was a cheap and cheerful joint. But she also made a veggie version too, which is the recipe I have shared. It's a family recipe originating from the North East of England, where mum was born and brought up.
Drop Scones (Scotch Pancakes) for Breakfast – These old fashioned Drop Scones, are also called Dropped Scones, Griddle Cakes or Scotch Pancakes. They are easy to make and make a lovely after-school snack, breakfast dish, tea time treat or a dessert dish. This is a very nostalgic recipe, as I clearly remember my mother making these not long before she passed away in 2018. In fact the last time I made these for my old blog post, I made them with mum in her cosy cottage kitchen in Yorkshire.
An easy and tasty main meal made with tinned corned beef, potatoes and onions.I remember eating this panackelty at my maternal grandmother's Northumberland country cottage, sat at the huge scrubbed pine table on a stool with a cushion, so I could reach the table to eat. She would set the Panackelty down in the middle of the table and spoon it on to our plates….the gravy flooded around the onions and corned beef and the potatoes were meltingly tender, whilst the aroma was utterly intoxicating.
You can find all of my recipes via the recipe box section of my blog or by searching using the search function. And if there are any recipes that you are looking for that you can't find, just drop me a line and I will see what I can find (or make!)
Whilst I love food and recipes, travel is a huge part of my life and the inspiration for many of my recipes. There are many posts at Lavender and Lovage about my travels from Exploring the Waterways of the Tsars to 24 hours in Parma and my Travels in Quebec. Do make sure that you have a look. I'm sure you'll find lots of inspiration for your future travels!
I hope that you have enjoyed this brief introduction to Lavender & Lovage and that we'll have an opportunity to connect soon. So until next time, take care and happy cooking, Karen
