July in the Kitchen and Garden

It's mid-winter and it's cold! A polar blast this week has brought the temperatures right down.

It's the kind of weather where you want to hunker down inside and cook up delicious things in the kitchen.

Here's a healthy potato salad that's perfect for cooler months because it can be served warm and is full of vitamin packed-herbs. If you're in summer, it can also be served cold.

Tamarillo Time

Winter is tamarillo season (aka Tree Tomatoes). They are a strange and wonderful fruit and a treat I look forward to each year! They're tart and juicy. I've recently made a cheesecake with them - their tartness complements the sweet cheesecake filling perfectly. - Light & Creamy Tamarillo Cheesecake.
Sweet Treats with Ginger

Ginger is perfect in the wintertime with its spicy and warm notes. I've been baking with it a fair bit over on Home Grown Happiness and at Baking With Butter.
