Hijack Truck unlawafully,outrageous bill….

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Olusola Sanwo- Olu has been urged to come to the rescue of the Apapa truck owners of the Nigeria Association of Road Transport Owner (NARTO) to put an end to the illegal extortion of large enforcement team who appear all day and night to frustrate the truck business.

The chairman of taskforce, Prince Hassan Adekoya made this known on Wednesday during the peaceful protest staged at Alausa Secretariat Ikeja, that the situation at Apapa Tincan Island is becoming unbearable for everyone as the perpetrators hijacked trucks unlawfully also slashed up outrageous bill to paralyze the business of the people.

He therefore thanked the Lagos State government for a well presented system launched towards Apapa area so far and appealed called for Governor Sanwoolu's intervention to investigate and review all the NPA and terminal policies around the axis for a well legalized sanity because the enforcement team is not rightfully serving the state.

He also said that the truck owners and workers there have become tired and feeling diminished since it takes everyone 3 months with their trucks to enter the port due to the acts of the illegal enforcement team.

The Chairman for Apapa unit, Comrade Wale Oladehinde emphasized on how Lagos state government has recently sent some officials to monitor the situation but he appeals to Governor Sanwoolu to set up an investigative committee to verify the claim so far in order to confirm the proof and make their job easy to apprehend the perpetrators. While he said further that it has gone beyond months now that some so called Abandoned committee of ETO appeared in the port to tow away their trucks.

A NARTO member, Mr. Dike Ekene Collins said that they are law abiding citizens of Lagos State who did not want to put laws in their hands that it is akilling and frustrating as the pay 20,000 naira on each truck of over 20 numbers in the area.

The Director of political office of the office of the Civic Engagement, Mr. Obey Kolawole however assured the protesters that their letters would be delivered to the Governor as well as selected 2 members of the protest to follow him to ensure that it has being followed up in the right process.
