| Last week I asked what you do to make each day count, and here are just some of my favorites! AH: One of my go-to is a morning silent tea meditation where I sit in stillness and allow my mind to relax, with no judgment. Everything always works itself out. JAK: I take a few minutes to make a list of things I need to do (big chores) including appointments and shopping. I then decide when I will do these but I will not worry about other (less important) chores for the rest of the day. This makes me in control of my life as I don't have to worry about other things that need my attention. W: As far as viewing life in general, "Take each day with the confidence of a 4-year-old in a Batman T-shirt!" WB: What lifts my spirits is cooking recipes from your blog and learning so much about Japanese cooking. (Thank you! - Nami) TC: I try to spend at least an hour a day outside with my dog, listening to birds and enjoying the plants and trees. Meditation works wonders but is so subtle that you think it's not helping. KS: I find that it helps to carve out some time just for me (even 10 minutes) and I also remind myself to be thankful. I'm thankful to have my health, my family is healthy and I have a home to live in. I use my "my" time to read your blog and recipes (drool, drool) and play my word game on my phone. (Thank you! - Nami) AC: Acknowledge daily errand as an accomplishment. Eg: my dishwasher got unload before I have any dirty dishes piling up, I fold my laundry right after it's out of the dryer, etc. Another one is to just piecemeal my big tasks. Eg: I need to paint my cabinet. Since I'm not a professional there's a lot of unknowns that need to be iron out. The online guide said it's a 2 days project but turned out it's not. It's frustrating and I almost give up halfway but I try to do it for a few hours in a day to I feel I'm progressing each day! WPM: Earlier this year, I signed up for the app "Calm". What I like about the app are the meditation exercises and some are just very short refreshing exercises in calmness. And I LOVE the bedtime stories. I listen to them in the middle of my day sometimes when I need time to just rest my mind and focus on something else. Just lie down on your couch or bed and just take some time to listen to a very calming and soothing story. I was listening to one about Angkor Wat in Cambodia yesterday and almost fell asleep. When I sometimes don't feel my best or feel very overburdened by life, I try to remember to take time out of my day just to use the Calm app. It works for me and it's constantly updated with new things. Hope you can look into it and see if it suits you! LF: Meditation is a good way to manage and improve one's mind and body. Time is rushing by for many of us, with all the news everyday coming at us, we all need to "smell the roses" and slow down so we may focus on the adventure of life's experiences. E: I do meditate daily and continue to exercise. I enjoy each day with my two grandchildren. Breathe deeply! Your recipes are a part of my week. MT: 1) Know that what you are trying to achieve is not for you, but really for your family and friends (and that includes your MANY supporters). 2) Know that what you are trying to do, every day, and how you share those experiences (good and bad, tough and easy) with us, make US understand that perhaps others, too, have the same challenges in everyday life. 3) Know that the memories YOUR children and friends have BECAUSE of you will last long into the future. 4) There are a lot of moving parts in your life. Except for the essentials (and only you know these), are they ALL necessary? GJ: Everyday yoga, even just 30 minutes. You deserve it! Thank you for sharing your tips with us. I've been doing the 'sleep meditation' program on Peloton (I'm Nami_JOC 👋🏼) and it's been nice. I'll try to implement some of your great suggestions in my life! I hope you have a wonderful (long) weekend! 🌈✨ |
