| Hi there, I hope you're having a nice week. The weather has cooled off in the Hudson Valley and it almost feels like fall. I've been enjoying the cool evening breeze and the days that I can keep all the windows open and not use the AC at all. This week I shared one of my favorite dishes of all time - Steamed Pork Buns with Chive. It takes a bit of time to put together, but the result is extremely rewarding. My recipe includes a method of mixing the dough using a stand mixer, to make it quite doable in your home kitchen. If you are growing Chinese chives in your garden or can find some at the farmers market, give this one a try! PS. I planted some Chinese chive seeds in the spring and again in early summer. But none of them have sprouted! So no homegrown chives for me this year. But I'll try again next year because it's such a nice vegetable to have on hand to add a bold flavor to a dish. I also shared a restaurant review for a favorite Sichuan spot, Birds of a Feather, in Brooklyn. I was planning on doing more restaurant reviews since I moved to New York, but unfortunately Covid-19 happened and my plan has gotten pushed again and again. Now that indoor dining is back, I'm hoping to introduce more Chinese restaurants that I love. That's all for this week. I hope you enjoy the weekend and happy cooking! Maggie |
