The Nutrition Mechanic Toolbox 🛠🥕

Tinkerings from the Toolbox

Happy Monday, -

Is it time to take a fresh look at your hydration?

While training nutrition and fueling strategies remain of utmost importance as we get rolling into this season, we can also benefit from a deeper dive into the How, When, Why and What of optimal hydration strategies.

There are still a lot of black and white type of hydration recommendations out there that make for confusing and/or cookie cutter advice. For example, "Drink before you're thirsty" or "You don't need extra electrolytes". Okay, there may be cases in which these statements apply, but not always and not for everybody. It behooves us to take the time to learn what our unique needs are and to develop our knowledgebase so that we are better prepared to make adjustments for our own scenarios.

Getting in the Know...
I've been proud to serve as a testing partner with Precision Hydration for over 5 years, helping athletes learn about their sweat, in addition to their fluid and hydration needs.

While our testing ability was slowed due to the pandemic, we are now back offering sweat sodium testing services and hydration education clinics to individual athletes, training clubs, and teams. Starting in the Spring, we can travel to you to conduct testing and provide individual or group consultations. We are proud to offer this service to help athletes better dial in their needs towards improved training, performance, and recovery.

Contact me to learn more and be sure to check out Precision Hydration's info on sweat testing and this Nutrition Mechanic blog about your sweat.
The picture above shows what the sweat collection process looks like - no grunting it out on the treadmill needed!
Feb 1st: Special Live Podcast with Zora of Hack My Age
I'm excited to be joining Zora, the host of the Hack My Age podcast, on Tuesday (February 1st) at 11:30am EST for a live podcast recording to talk about nutrition for active/athletic women in peri- & postmeno years. Zora & I are both extremely passionate about women's health and the aging process, so it's bound to be a great convo. If you'd like to tune in live with us, you can register here. Otherwise, the pod will be released in the near future and you can tune in on any of the main podcast platforms.
Nourish your awesomeness,
-Dina
