| Hi E! It's no secret that eating less is the key to losing weight. I mean, the ONLY sure fire way to lose fat is to be in a calorie deficit - meaning you eat less than your body needs to maintain its weight. If you're not in a calorie deficit you won't lose weight no matter how many detoxes you do or carbs you give up. This is why I am a BIG supporter of learning how to track your food intake so you can make sure you are achieving this deficit. I personally track my macros when I have a specific physique goal and have found it to be really successful. My 1:1 clients have also found the same! However, if you're just starting out with making healthy changes, learning how to track your food can be REALLY overwhelming! Especially when there are some easy switches you can make TODAY that could yield amazing fat loss results! Here are 5 tips to help you start eating less (and losing weight!) without having to jump into the world of food tracking: Use Smaller Plates - It's how our psychology works - if you have a bigger plate you will fill it because an not full plate looks sad. Simply use a smaller plate to eat less Have More Protein - Protein is incredibly satisfying and filling! So adding more protein to your food is important. Plus, it will help you build muscle which will increase your metabolism and shape your body Make Half Your Plate Fibrous Veggies - Fiber is important for a lot of reasons BUT it will help make you feel more full when you're dieting. Plus, fibrous veggies are very low in calories so eating more will lower your overall caloric intake AND make you feel fuller! Leave Dinner On The Counter - This might not be ideal if you have a family BUT if all the food is in front of you, it's so much easier to keep picking even when you're done and not hungry. All those "picks" add up...out of sight, out of mind! Don't Drink Your Calories - This is HUGE! That Starbucks drink could be adding hundreds of calories to your daily intake which can prevent fat loss. If you drink a lot of calories right now, simply cutting that out could lead to weight loss. Allow Yourself A Small Treat Daily - This one might seem counterintuitive, but allowing yourself a small treat - like a square of dark chocolate or something small that you love daily will prevent you from feeling overly restricted which will prevent binges. This will also allow you to see how you can still enjoy treats you love while making progress! Like I said, I DO think that tracking food is important to get results as you HAVE to be in a calorie deficit to lose fat, this is a great starting point to get your feet wet before jumping into tracking! Sometimes it's best to walk before you run! Which of these are you going to try? Hit "reply" and let me know! Taylor :) |
