Hiiiiii E! "I can't eat that. I'm dieting" Have you ever said those words? I think you probably have (or, at least something similar to that!) and I am willing to bet that they didn't feel very good. You probably felt frustrated and restricted because you "couldn't" eat something. E, what you might not realize is that the way you speak to yourself and the way you frame your thoughts and feelings can totally make or break your results. When you say "I can't do that" you're always focusing on restricting yourself. If you remember last week, focusing on restriction is a "diet mentality" that is preventing you from losing fat. What if, instead, you reframed this kind of thinking to "I choose not to eat this because it doesn't serve my goals right now" if you were making the choice to not eat something like a cookie, for example. Or maybe "I CHOOSE to eat this because I know it WILL help me reach my goals" if we're talking about something like veggies when you really want a cookie. How much more EMPOWERING does that feel to you? Does that feel like YOU are making the choice and holding yourself accountable to your goals instead of "your diet" making the miserable, restrictive choice for you. Choosing to show up for yourself is SO much more motivating and even FREEING than always having a restrictive mindset. As I always say, you get to choose your mindset. You get to choose how you speak to yourself. NO ONE is making you lose weight (well, MAYBE, you're doctor, but still) you are an adult and you are the one deciding to do this for yourself. So, show up for yourself and speak to yourself in that way. What do you think? How does this reframe feel? Hit "reply" and let me know!
