I've long been a supporter of all (well, most) things Little Debbie, the packaged snack cakes company founded in 1960 by O. D. and Ruth McKee and named after their then four-year-old grandchild, Debbie. I've typically been a Zebra Cakes and Nutty Buddy guy, and I would lay out dozens of boxes when my roommates and I threw big parties on the roof of my East Village apartment in the early 2000s. The packages of Swiss Rolls would even outnumber the cans of Sparks on ice—we knew how to throw down.
Little Debbie reentered my orbit a few weeks back, and in the best possible way, when writer Ella Quittner pitched the idea to pay tribute to the underrated Cosmic Brownies. I was unfamiliar with this product (until, of course, I ran to ShopRite and bought a box), so it was sort of this Little Debbie's debutante, with some great writing from Quittner. The recipe rules, and I hope you make it, or at least never pass the snack aisle without giving the brownie a look again.

Cornell chicken and a soy-sauce-sesame-oil marinade don't sound like they would go together on paper, but TASTE columnist Cathy Erway has tweaked the two marinades from her upbringing into one perfectly balanced chicken dish.

Earlier this week, we were honored with a James Beard Foundation Journalism Award nomination for Leslie's Pariseau's story about marmalade makers. Each winter, the world's marmalade makers emerge from hibernation for a jam session of epic scale. Congrats to all the nominees in categories dedicated to books, journalism, and broadcast media, as well as chefs and restaurant operators. See all the nominees.
It's an exciting double week on the TASTE Podcast. First we caught up with the amazing Peter Reinhart, who literally went on a pizza quest around the country for his latest book. Also, Alexis deBoschnekjoins for an incredibly fun conversation about her new book, To the Last Bite, an homage to her home region of New York, the Catskills!

Really enjoyed the newish podcast from Jesse Sparks. The One Recipe is a short and punchy conversation about a food writer's, yes, one recipe. Past episodes have included Joe Yonan, Eric Kim, Jaya Saxena, and others.
