| Hiya E! If you track your food in the wrong way, it can create an unbalanced life and too much focus on food. Trust me, I used to do it the wrong way. If you know my story at all, I had anorexia and obsessed about every little thing. I even worried about the extra 2 calories from an extra cup of black coffee or an extra spinach leaf. I totally missed social events, or went to them but ate chicken breast out of a ziploc baggie in the bathroom stall. Talk about unbalanced! However, there is no denying that tracking your food is an important part of reaching a physique goal! But, having balance or moderation can be tough because everyone defines it differently! So, here are some tips for what balance really *should* look like when you have an aesthetic goal you want to reach, but still want to enjoy your life: What it is: Eating ALL foods, without labels or rules, but making sure to focus on nutrients and vitamins. 80% whole, unprocessed foods and 20% fun foods! What is not: "If it fits your macros" - you can't just try to fit crap-for-you food into your macros all the time unless you want suboptimal results and to feel like crap. What it is: Making smart swaps, like focusing on protein and veggies, when you go out to eat. What it is not: Ordering whatever you want (like that bowl of alfredo as big as your face) because "balance." This can increase your overall calorie balance by the end of the week and could slow or stall results. What it is: Perusing the menu online beforehand (if you can) to make an educated decision about what you will eat to achieve your goals, and planning the rest of your day accordingly so you don't go into it starving. What it is not: Restricting all day to save massive amounts of calories for the meal out, only to overeat because you're so starving. That is a poor relationship with food, even though diet culture tells you that it's a normal thing to do. Which of these stood out to you? Hit "REPLY" and let me know!
