It's officially fall! While pumpkin gets a lot of attention this time of year, there are SO many other delicious flavors to look forward to. In this newsletter, we share what produce is in season and nutritious fall recipes. Let's celebrate the new season with good food, cooler temperatures, and the season of giving.
What's In Season This Fall?
Below is a list of produce that is season during the fall months. Using seasonal produce is a great way to add more fresh and bold flavors to your meals. Buying in season produce is more environmentally friendly and is more cost-effective.

Sweet Potato Turkey Chili from Fuel Your Body
Ingredients:
  • 1 lb ground turkey breast (93-99% lean)
  • 1 large sweet potato, peeled and chopped 
  • 1 white onion, chopped
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 2 & 1/2 cups low-sodium chicken broth (or vegetable broth)
  • 1 (28 oz.) canned crushed tomatoes
  • 1 (16 oz.) canned black beans, drained and rinse
  • 1/2 cup uncooked quinoa, rinsed (this is optional, but makes for a delicious, heartier chili!)
  • 1-2 Tbsp garlic, mince
  • 2 Tbsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp ground cumin 
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
Directions:
Cook ground turkey in large skillet with 1 tbsp olive oil over medium-high heat. Once fully cooked, add to crockpot along with all other ingredients. Mix well. Cook on high for 4 hours (or low 6-8 hours), until sweet potatoes are tender, stirring once every few hours. Serve with delicious toppings such as a few slices of avocado, a Tbsp of shredded cheese, or some whole wheat crackers!
