Back when I lived in New York, a trip to the farmer's market would be filled with the scent of apples and cinnamon. Not only is New York State abundant with apple orchards, but the farmers use some of their bounties in brewing batches of apple cider and baking trays of tender apple cider doughnuts. While Texas also has apple trees, including at my family's farm, you don't see the cider or the doughnuts nearly as often. When I came across a recipe for apple cider doughnut muffins, however, I made a batch and each sweet, moist, and cinnamon bite was like a cheerful fall day. |
