The Power of Food: Your Health Goals in 2023

reader -

Food and diet often play a central role in our goals for the new year.. And for good reason! How much of our time is spent planning, shopping, preparing, eating, and thinking about food??

Food is powerful because it has the ability to nourish and fuel our bodies, as well as influence our overall health and well-being. The nutrients found in the foods we eat play a crucial role in how well our bodies function and also how we feel.

The question is how to set up your life to make this actually happen?

These are some of my top tips for making healthy eating a sustainable part of your life:

  • Set specific, achievable goals. Instead of setting a generic goal of eating more fruits and vegetables, set a specific goal, such as eating a fruit or vegetable with every meal.
  • Experiment with new recipes. Trying new, healthy recipes can be a fun and rewarding way to motivate yourself to eat better.
  • Find the root cause of unhealthy eating habits. Identify any underlying emotional or stress-related issues that may be contributing to your unhealthy eating habits and find ways to address them.
  • Get enough sleep. Lack of sleep can impair your decision-making abilities and judgement, making you more likely to make unhealthy food choices. It also can mess with your hormones and make you feel hungrier and crave high fat, high sugar foods.
  • Plan. Meal planning is important for making healthy food choices because it helps you avoid impulse purchases and snacking, choose healthier ingredients and prepare meals that are balanced and nutrient-dense.

Eating healthier in 2023 is an opportunity to nourish and fuel your body, support your overall health and well-being, and achieve your goals. Every healthy choice you make is a step towards a happier, healthier you!
