Questions about Japanese Ingredients Substitution?

Just One Cookbook
Hi again we

Do you struggle with Japanese cooking because you don't have a certain ingredient in your kitchen?

I hear you.

To address this challenge, I've put together a page where you can find:

  • Suggestions for ingredient substitution
  • Quick resources for Japanese ingredients

If you missed, we have a directory on Japanese Grocery Stores Around The World that you can access to.

I also want to leave you with a few important tips:

  • For some recipes, it's totally OK to leave out an ingredient or replace it with your local ingredients. For example, I like to garnish my dishes with Japanese herbs, but you can leave that out.
  • Many of my recipes can easily be made vegetarian or vegan. Use them as a guide and swap out the meat with vegetables, mushrooms, tofu, or eggs.
  • Do not be afraid to experiment and try things out.
  • Sometimes your local farmers market or grocery store may carry certain ingredients that you've been looking for. Before you give up, remember to ask! Who knows you might get lucky.

If you're unsure of a particular ingredient, leave your question at the comment section on the recipe itself. I'll be ready to help!
