This restaurant is opposite the Art Gallery. It's been years since we've dined there. There was a select group of friends tonight - Bill and 5 "girls".
The last time we dined there was for one my birthdays - maybe 5 years ago - and when I made the booking, I was asked if there was a special occasion. I mentioned that it was my birthday, and the whole table was served with a collections of desserts to share. So it did occur to me to tell them the same thing again, but I refrained.
I chose the Grilled Chicken Salad - Roquette, pear, candied walnut. I thought that the chicken needed a little seasoning - even some salt would have helped. But it was a great salad.
The dish chosen by two people at the table was the Fish of the Day (photo below) - which was excellent and looked great.
Also chosen was the Mushroom risotto, aged pecorino, balsamic, walnuts which was a great dish, and the Angus Eye Fillet with Kumara gratin, broccolini, jus. It was also good, although still not the requested "blue" steak.
As there were only 6 of us around the table, it meant that we were all able to be involved in the same conversation - so it was a great evening as we learned more about our newest friend, Sarah.
